'An Doineann'
(The Tempest) was inspired by the back-to-back gales of
December along the northwest coast of County Donegal, Ireland. The
medium is white marble and this work
was one of Garrity's early
representations in stone of the human visage, as a feral and primordial
force
of nature. The artist is currently revisiting this concept with a
large-scale series of stone and wood carvings.
